Through Facebook and some of my mama friends, I've learned about bargain websites tailored to your geographic region. The way most of them work is that you go to the website, sign up, and choose the city/region you want bargains for. (I created a separate e-mail account for such things so my regular box doesn't get flooded or spammed.) Every few days, you get an e-mail offer such as spending $25 for a $50 gift card for a particular restaurant, spa, museum, etc.
Many of the mom-related ones offer half price memberships to kid venues. We got cheap memberships to the zoo and Oakland's Fairyland this way. I really like perusing the offers. I don't buy very often, but I learn about new places. These sites can also help grandparents, doting aunts, etc. find fun activities or gifts for the little ones in their lives.
Circle of Moms -- The Real Deal
And there is a second type of deal website. The web company signs a contract with a merchandising company to offer a certain amount of stock at a deep discount. Customers visit each day to see what is being offered and the deal only lasts until the stock is gone. (Most of them launch new deals around 8:00 AM PST and some bargains are gone in minutes. Some let you sign on to their Facebook or Twitter pages for reminders.) Early on, I researched several deals online to see if the products were indeed bargains and most of the time they are. You do, however, have to consider the cost of postage...and the cost of being tempted to buy something you wouldn't have known about otherwise. Still, if you are a smart shopper or gift buyer, you can get great bargains this way and learn about cool new products.

But, then again, there's always $1 trucks from the Target Dollar Spot!
have you checked out the local kids consignment sales? They are usually held twice a year at local churches. I sold over $300.00 of items this year. But, then I turned around and spent some of the money buying stuff for the grandkids. Found Josiah lots and lots of thick sleepers. Some of them were Brand New with tags for $1.00. Brandon really loves to read now, so I found great buys on books and clothes for him.
