More goodbyes to dear friends today. But there was time for one last ride on the miniature steam train at Tilden Park and one more group lunch at Cactus taqueria. Afterwards we headed northward in the car to stay the night at Travis Air Force Base.
Sad to be leaving such a beautiful, exciting place full of dear friends. Happy to be heading towards dear, familiar home.
There's so much I could say, but I'm really tired. I think I'll let Eli say it instead. During our last week in California, I got him a Fisher-Price digital camera for kids. (This is the 2010 V2751/V2752 "Kid Tough" model.) I thought it might be a great way for him to find a "visual voice," to save his own memories...
There were some fumbling first attempts...
But then he took pictures of the movers taking apart his slide...
He took pictures of his now-bare bedroom...
He took pictures of the little "Empty House Party" we had with some of his buddies featuring a pizza picnic on the floor and some grocery store balloons...
But, most of all, he took pictures of smiling faces...
There were more, mostly too blurry to recognize the people. (The camera works slowly, so both photographer and subject must be still.) But I think these capture the spirit of the week, the spirit of the place we leave behind.
