The flour haze is now settling out of the air. Below is a photo of my dining room table covered with 132 pieces to make 22 gingerbread houses. That little project used up 11 cups of shortening, 38 teaspoons of spices, and 71 cups of flour. But, boy, does our house smell good!
Today I was going to start piecing together the houses, but my two oldest nephews have college finals today. One of them, in fact, is at the end of his first semester as a freshman. I had to be there to support them in spirit. Eli helped me whip up a double batch of chocolate chip cookie dough this morning and I baked after he went to school. See my tower of a stacking cooling racks full of chocolately goodness? Soon we'll deliver six dozen treats including some to Papa at his new office.
