Sunday was a swirl of first-day-of-school preparations. We wrapped up our shopping for school supplies and gathered the spare clothes Eli will leave in his cubby. We packed a healthy lunch. After Eli was in bed, I baked pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for the parents' welcome coffee time. This morning went off without a hitch from sunblock to dropoff. Happy sigh. Pretty good when the house is still a bit chaotic from the move.
It has been a very busy summer. Moving two summers in a row? I decided moving is more expensive and distruptive to your life than surgery and you don't even get to sleep through it! So grateful we're in the home stretch of settling in.
This morning when I walked back into the quiet house, I missed Eli. But I am glad school is back in session. It is time for a little more creativity and balance. Summer means more hours together, yet last schoolyear Eli and I found we tend to spend more quality time when we've been looking forward to our afternoon together. And I'm itching to hit my creative projects.
Hooray for a new school year!
