Eli and I are off on summer adventures!
Our first stop was the 1904 statue of Vulcan, the ancient god of fire and metal, high on a hill above Birmingham, Alabama. Fifty feet tall, it is the largest cast iron statue in the world and celebrates the area's history of metal production.
Vulcan stands atop a tall pedestal with stairs up the middle and an elevator in the back.
The views are amazing.
But to get to the view, you have to put up with seeing the ground far below your feet.
There's a small but interesting museum about the sculpture and Birmingham.
Two thumbs up!
I was shaking when I went up, it was super high but when I reach the top the view was amazing. Such a great scenery.
